HONORARY ADVISOR
William H. Newell (PhD in Economics, University of Pennsylvania, 1971), Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies in the Western College Program at Miami University. Professor Newell, a leading voice in interdisciplinary research and education, has edited four books, including the foundational Interdisciplinarity: Essays from the Literature, Case Studies in Interdisciplinary Research, and two special issues of journals. He has published over 30 articles and chapters on interdisciplinary studies, with seminal contributions to the theory and practice of interdisciplinarity recognized in his receipt of the Kenneth E. Boulding Award. Professor Newell has been serving on the Editorial Board of Issues in Integrative Studies since 1986, and served on the Editorial Board for Oxford Handbook of Interdisciplinarity in 2007-2008. Professor Newell has also served as consultant and external evaluator on interdisciplinary higher education over 100 times. As the founding president of the Association for Integrative Studies in 1979, he has served since 1983 first as the Association's secretary-treasurer and then as executive director.
Ruth Taplin, University of Leicester. Prof. Ruth Taplin holds her doctorate from the London School of Economics and is the author/editor of 16 books, mainly with Routledge and over 200 articles. She has been the Director of the Centre for Japanese and East Asian Studies, London for over 20 years which won Exporter for the Year for pathfinder and Trading Partnerships for the UK in 2000. Prof. Taplin has been former Editor of The Journal of Interdisciplinary Economics for 20 years and currently Editor of The Interdisciplinary Journal of Economics and Business Law. She has been an exponent of interdisciplinary studies throughout her career with her work encompassing economics, intellectual property, innovation, business and the law. She is now a Featured Author of Routledge, and was the first featured Author of the Month for Routledge in Asian Studies Januaury 2010. Prof. Taplin is also a Visiting Professor and Fellow at universities and businesses around the world.
Michael K Fung, Associate Professor of Economics, School of Accounting and Finance, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr Fung's research interests cut across several disciplines: economics, finance, accounting and operation research. His publications appear in many top-tier journals in both general and specific fields, including: Contemporary Accounting Research (Canadian Academic Accounting Association), Production and Operations Management (Production and Operations Management Society), Economica (London School of Economics), Financial Management (Financial Management Association International, FMA), Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Productivity Analysis, Journal of Business Ethics, etc. Dr Fung served on Banking and Finance Industry Training Board at Vocational Training Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government and as an examiner for The Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport in Hong Kong. He currently serves as an external advisor and external examiner for several business schools in Hong Kong.
